1996 friday breakfast
The Breakfast on Friday was well attended even though the activities of the conference lasted well into the night on Thursday. Our first picture shows most of the group gathered in the CITD exhibit hall dining area. Vice President Harry Birdwell is shown addressing the group. This was the second time he met with the participants. His support for the conference is greatly appreciated, and participants were thankful for his willingness to take the time to spend with them. John Houck received a special award of recognition for the part he has played in the development of the National Collegiate CADD Conference. Mr. Houck was instrumental in founding the conference by hosting the first meeting. That conference was held in 1990 at Ohio State University. To make it possible for individuals to plan and host the NCCC, someone in management must provide the authority and support to make it happen. By hosting the conference at Oklahoma State University, he has said "Yes!" twice. Other awards were presented to the steering committee members representing each school that has hosted the conference. Pictures are available elsewhere in the web pages. The main speaker for the Friday morning breakfast was Wayne Leroy, the Executive Vice President of the Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers (APPA). He gave a well received presentation as he presented his perspective on technology and need based on his years of experience with APPA members and challenged the participants to be proactive in meeting challenges in managing educational facilities. Mr. Leroy presented an opportunity for participants in the National Collegiate CADD Conference to participate with APPA in presenting future educational programs for APPA members.
