Facilitating Archives Access
A group discussion on methods of providing access
to Archival drawings. As an introduction, there was a demonstration of how
the University of Maryland
has organized its infrastructure drawings into a user friendly database for
quick and easy access to the drawings retained in the FM Archives. A brief
PowerPoint presentation that instructed users how to access the information
within the database was shown, as well as live demonstrations.

GPS vs. Total Station
With the improvement in GPS equipment, surveyors face
a choice of using tried-and-true total station surveys or GPS mapping techniques.
We discussed the relative
merits and best uses for each type of survey.
