Michael
E. Beall - Keynote Speaker
Wednesday morning will feature our keynote
speaker, Michael
E. Beall,
the owner of AutoCAD Trainer Guy LLC. Mr. Beall provides professional,
onsite, customized, hands-on, application-specific training on all versions
of the AutoCAD 2000 platform, including AutoCAD 2006. Michael has been
presenting CAD training seminars to the A&D community, corporate facility
departments, and the contract furniture industry since 1982. He has been training
systems
furniture dealers on CAD since 1987 and AutoCAD since 1990. He was selected
to present a Technology Track “AutoCAD Toolbelt” session at the
NeoCon World’s Trade Fair since 2003. In addition, our keynote
speaker will conduct a pre-conference training lab titled AutoCAD 2006 Power
Tools. The workshop will cover the top features and the power tools of AutoCAD
2006. There will be a limit of 20 seats in this lab, so sign up early.
Art
Glick, Executive Associate to the Vice President for Operations, Texas Tech
University
Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1942, Arthur N. Glick has a
diverse background. He graduated from Michigan State University with a B.S.
in Landscape Architecture and later went on to get a Doctor of Jurisprudence
degree from the Texas Tech School of Law. He first came to Texas Tech in the
summer of 1970, working under the Campus Landscape Architect, Elo J. Urbanovski,
in the Office of the Landscape Architect. That fall, he began to serve as Assistant
Professor in the Department of Park Administration and Landscape Architecture,
where he remained for seven years. After his graduation from Law School, he
was a legal consultant for West Texas Title Company with emphasis on property
conveyances and land use planning. Subsequent to the retirement of Urbanovski,
he was asked to return to Texas Tech University as the full-time Campus Landscape
Architect in 1982 and served as such for 16 years until he was conferred the
title of Assistant to the Vice President for Operations. His accomplished background
has shaped him as an excellent selection for this position, and, because of
his longstanding relationship with Texas Tech, he has made a significant contribution
to the beauty and functionality of the Campus. Art, as he likes to be called,
is now involved in making Texas Tech one of the top AutoCAD/GIS technological
universities in the nation. Art
is married with one child.
Ricky Hall, Lead Programmer, Operations Division of Texas Tech University.
As project leader and programmer for the Operations Division, Rick’s technological
contribution has involved Web design, ActiveX, Microsoft’s .NET architecture,
SQLServer 2000, Autodesk MapGuide, and other various technologies. The advancement
of information technology abroad has facilitated the GIS project to rapidly advance
toward the technological goals of the Operations Division. The main goal of the
GIS department is to provide a mapping system for Texas Tech University, and
that goal now includes the integration of facilities data with the GIS system.
Rick’s personal goal includes providing the leading edge technology and
the programming that integrates this technology. He is a Microsoft Certified
Solutions Developer and has a bachelor’s in Computer Science.
Mike Hamilton, Information Technology Manager, Facilities Planning
& Management, Iowa State University.
Mike was appointed as manager in
Computer Support Services in 1991. During his 20 years at Iowa State, he
has served as Information Systems Coordinator, Assistant Information Systems
Analyst, Senior Programmer Analyst, and Computer Security Officer at Ames
Laboratory (USDOE). Before returning to school to pursue a career in the “computer
business,” Mike was
a teacher, coach, and athletic director at Willow Community Schools in Washta
IA. Serving in the capacity of IT Manager for Facilities Planning & Management,
he has been responsible for several IT initiatives that have moved Facilities
Planning & Management
to becoming a world class organization. Some of these include serving as
project manager for the implementation and operation of FP&M’s
Computerized Facilities Management System, establishing FP&M’s
presence on the web, and establishing a web technologist position within
the FP&M Information
Technology operation. He also has provided leadership consulting experience
with Computerized Facilities Management systems, computer security, and Y2K.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in teaching and coaching from Buena Vista University
and is currently enrolled in the masters program at Iowa State University.
Mike is an active volunteer around the City of Ames, serving as Chair for
the City of Ames Parks & Recreation Commission, Co-chair for the Ames
Chamber of Commerce Leadership Ames program, and coach for AAU basketball.
Ron Kinyon, Program Coordinator & Famis Manager, Facilities Planning & Management,
Iowa State University.
Ron has been with Iowa State University for 30+ years,
serving in various positions as an auto mechanic, supervisor, project scheduler,
manager of Project Support Services, and his current position as Facilities
Management System Coordinator.
Greg Knight, Manager of Drawing Information Systems, Department of Facilities,
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Greg began his career with the Department
of Facilities at MIT in 1988 as a co-op student out of Northeastern University
where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1991.
During his 16+ years with the Institute, he has gained experience in developing,
implementing, and managing CAD/GIS systems in a facilities management environment.
He is currently manager of Drawing Information Systems and is responsible for
Facilities' space accounting/management, CAD, GIS/mapping, and document management
systems.
Dean McCormick, Assistant Director, Facilities Planning & Management, Iowa
State University.
Dean supervises the Design & Construction Services
group of Facilities Planning & Management and oversees all aspects of the
design, bidding, contract, and construction phases of Iowa State University
capital projects. He also supervises the in-house Architectural & Engineering
Services group that performs design services on many maintenance projects and
small capital projects. Dean earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering
from Iowa State University in 1981. Before coming to Iowa State University
in 1994, he was employed by I.A. Naman + Associates in Houston TX, performing
construction administration activities and project management for mechanical,
electrical, and plumbing systems on major institutional and commercial projects
throughout the United States.
Steven Means,
Operations Division CADD Manager, Texas
Tech University.
As the CADD Manager for Operations Division at
Texas Tech University, Steve is developing, delivering, and maintaining
the standards for a comprehensive data-sharing solution for all departments
and workgroups with Operations Division at Texas Tech. He is also
developing methods to include survey accuracy in data gathering for Maps
and Design Development. He has earned the following certifications and credentials:
Autodesk Certified Instructor for AutoCAD, Land Desktop, Civil 3D, Map 3D,
MapGuide, and a B.S. from Eastern New Mexico University. He is currently
working toward a masters in Architecture at Texas Tech.
Dean Morton, University Architect, Iowa State University.
Dean
was appointed University
Architect for Iowa State University in 1990 after serving for eight years as
Associate University Architect. As University Architect, Dean has overall responsibility
for the design aspects of the campus physical environment, buildings, and grounds.
Dean also leads the effort to integrate LEAN and Six Sigma principals into
the Capital Planning Process at Iowa State. Improving process management effectiveness
is a big part of this, and web-based project management is a key element of
the program. Dean was instrumental in establishing web-based project management
as the prime tool for communication, collaboration, and process management
for all capital construction projects at Iowa State. Before coming to Iowa
State, Dean was a project architect for Frevert Ramsey Kobes Architects, a
Des Moines-based firm specializing in K-12 and higher education facilities.
Dean was project architect for two major projects at Iowa State while with
FRK. He holds bachelors and masters degrees in architecture from Iowa State
University and is involved in a wide range of activities with the American
Institute of Architects, the United States Green Building Council, and the
Association of University Architects.
Michael Parkin, ESRI
Michael worked for MIT during the implementation of the Institute's space management
system and helped with the initial integration of CAD and GIS technologies.
He has been working with both CAD and GIS technologies equally for 12+ years
and has worked for organizations ranging form small municipalities to larger
private consulting firms. Michael currently works for ESRI in Danvers, Massachusetts.
Glenn A. Seehausen, Chief Executive Officer, ACAD-Plus, Inc.
Glenn is the founder
and CEO of ACAD-Plus, Inc., a firm specializing in Facilities Management and
Document Management solutions since 1986. He has used AutoCAD since 1984 and
has placed in the top five in the national Top Gun competition sponsored by
CADENCE magazine. Under his direction, ACAD-Plus has developed CAD-based software
solutions and managed implementations for customers totaling more than 300
million square feet of facilities, including Hewlett Packard, Exxon Mobil,
MIT, Yale, and Stanford. For more than a decade, Glenn has designed and implemented
document management solutions in the CAD environment with a specific focus on
the facilities department. His customers use this solution to store millions
of CAD drawings and related documents. Glenn is a returning NCCC speaker, presenting
at his first conference in 1999.
Scott Shader, Director of Space Planning
and Management, University of Missouri
He has over 15
years of facilities/space planning and document management experience in higher
education. Scott is responsible for the determination of space needs at MU.
Scott’s
office also maintains a sophisticated online GIS mapping environment tied to
Archibus and AutoCAD tied to a document management system entitled FindView
that is fully interactive all via the web. Scott also is the Director of the
MU Building and Infrastructure Archives, which is a collection of historical
and current documents pertaining to all buildings at MU dating back to the
mid 1800s. Scott has been nationally recognized for his planning and document
management efforts in higher education and has presented at numerous conferences
over the last ten years and recently at the 2004 National Collegiate CAD Conference
at Texas Tech University, at the 2005 Tradeline New Management and Operations
for Technically Complex Facilities Conference, and at the 2005 CAPPA Conference
for Physical Plant Administrators.
